History/Overview: Dhaka Medical College National inherits its glorious predecessor, the National Institute of Medicine, Dhaka, which was founded in 1925 as part of non-cooperation movement of the Indian subcontinent by the British colonial government, organized jointly by the Indian National Congress and the India Muslim League leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Muhammad Ali and Maulana Ali Sawkat.

Along with other programs, the lack of cooperation of the Movement urged the people of the sub-continent to boycott educational institutions established and administered by the British Government. national schools and colleges and institutes for modern scientific education by the local population to an agreement.
